The construction of the Zhangye section of the S10 Zhangye-Mazongshan Expressway, invested by China Energy Engineering Gezhouba Group and Gezhouba Transportation Investment Company, has officially begun.
This project is the first model integrating transportation and energy, playing a key role in Gansu Province’s “Three Major Highway Corridors” plan. At the same time, it serves as one of China’s strategic westward transportation routes, contributing to the region’s economic development.
The expressway spans 195 kilometers, with an estimated investment of 114 billion yuan. Designed as a four-lane, bidirectional highway, it will support a speed limit of 100 km/h. The route will feature 102 bridges and 8 interchanges.
Once completed, the project will enhance the highway network in northwest Gansu, ease congestion on the existing G30 Lianhuo Expressway, and accelerate the region’s integration into the Belt and Road Initiative.
Gezhouba Group Chairman Xu Zhiguo stated that this project will set a model based on digitalization, environmental sustainability, and transportation-tourism integration. He also emphasized their goal of merging expressway infrastructure with the renewable energy sector, creating an innovative business model in transportation development.
