China and Egypt have successfully integrated the “Belt and Road” initiative with Egypt’s Vision 2030, achieving remarkable results in recent years. The Central Business District in Egypt’s new administrative capital, featuring the 385.8-meter-high “Africa’s tallest building,” stands out as one of the most striking projects of this collaboration. The exterior structures of the buildings have been completed, and some offices are reportedly ready for use. Such projects serve as prime examples of strengthened economic and cultural cooperation between the two nations.
Additionally, the China-Egypt Suez Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone (Teda Cooperation Zone), located on the Red Sea coast and part of the “Belt and Road” initiative, hosted significant investments in 2024. Chinese companies have launched new projects in areas such as renewable energy and photovoltaic production. Over 180 companies operating in the zone have contributed more than $30 billion in investments and created employment for over 70,000 people, providing a substantial boost to Egypt’s economy.
Moreover, cooperation continues across various sectors, from agriculture to energy. Chinese companies have drilled more than 540 water wells in Egypt, supporting the expansion of arable land, while the Aswan Kom Ombo Solar Power Plant, built by China, aims to provide clean energy to 2.56 million Egyptian households with its 500-megawatt capacity. Through the “Belt and Road” initiative, China and Egypt are steadily strengthening their economic, social, and cultural ties.
