During his two-day official visit to Egypt from July 9 to 11, Chinese Premier Li Qiang reaffirmed the strong friendship between the two countries and expressed a commitment to deepening bilateral relations. As the 70th anniversary of diplomatic ties approaches, Li emphasized the long-standing strategic partnership based on shared interests and mutual support.
Li held meetings with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, and Speaker of the House of Representatives Hanafy Ali Gebaly. The discussions focused on strengthening political trust, advancing Belt and Road projects, and exploring new areas of investment. President Sisi described China as a “sincere friend,” stating that bilateral relations have reached “the highest level in history.”
Economic cooperation was also central to the visit. With bilateral trade exceeding 17 billion U.S. dollars in 2024, China is one of Egypt’s top trade partners. Projects such as the TEDA Industrial Park in the Suez Canal Economic Zone symbolize industrial integration and investment success. Former Egyptian Prime Minister Essam Sharaf called Chinese investments a “win-win model,” highlighting China’s transformative role in cooperation with the Global South.
