The mutual visa-exemption agreement between China and Malaysia officially came into effect on Thursday, further expanding China’s visa-free travel policy.
According to the new arrangement, Chinese and Malaysian citizens holding valid ordinary passports can enter, exit, or transit through the other country without a visa for travel purposes. However, each stay must not exceed 30 days, and the total stay within any 180-day period must not exceed 90 days.
The policy was implemented three months after the two countries signed the agreement. It marks another step in China’s efforts to facilitate travel and promote international exchanges. As of May, China had signed mutual visa-exemption agreements with 157 countries covering various types of passports. In November 2024, the maximum stay for visa-free entry was extended to 30 days.
