China has launched an important project in Laos aimed at developing talent in the field of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). The Laos Post and Telecommunications Technology Institute in the capital, Vientiane, has been modernized with China’s assistance, featuring a new teaching building and new departments in the ICT field. Established 51 years ago, the institute has undergone a major transformation under China’s “Ten Schools Project” for Laos.
The Laotian government has emphasized the importance of digitalization for social and economic development, highlighting the need to train qualified professionals in ICT. China’s support in providing this educational assistance is playing a significant role in the development of Laos’ digital economy. The institute offers ICT education to local students, helping accelerate the country’s digital transformation.
The Director of the Laos Post and Telecommunications Technology Institute stated that with China’s support, the school’s educational capacity has increased, offering students new opportunities through the country’s first modern communication technologies program. The institute aims to meet the demand for qualified workforce in the ICT sector by equipping students with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills through new educational programs.
As part of the project, training programs have also been conducted for Laotian teachers. These programs are enhancing the quality of education and helping teachers adapt to new technologies. Additionally, Laotian teachers have received advanced training in China, contributing to the development of digital technologies in their home country. This collaboration between China and Laos aims to increase the use of digital technologies across various sectors and strengthen the relationship between the two countries in the digital economy field.
