China will collaborate with all Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states to complete the final phase of preparations for the upcoming SCO Summit in Tianjin, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said Thursday.
At a regular press briefing, Guo noted that since assuming the rotating SCO chairmanship in July last year, China has made steady progress under the theme “Upholding the Shanghai Spirit: SCO on the Move.” He highlighted three key areas of progress: deeper cooperation across multiple sectors, improved institutional mechanisms, and a renewed commitment to the “Shanghai Spirit.” Over 100 events have been hosted under China’s chairmanship, covering fields such as security, economy, education, energy, and digital innovation. In addition, steps have been taken to enhance the organization’s operational efficiency and bolster regional security collaboration.
Guo stated that the Tianjin Summit—scheduled for one month later—will mark the largest gathering in SCO history, with participation from leaders of over 20 countries and 10 international organizations. The summit will reflect the achievements of China’s chairmanship and guide the SCO into a new phase of high-quality development, aiming to strengthen unity, coordination, and regional cooperation among member states.
