China General Nuclear Power Corporation (CGN) has brought its landmark Fanshi offshore wind project in Guangdong Province into full-capacity operation, deploying the world’s largest cluster of 18-megawatt (MW) ultra-large turbines. Featuring 131 total turbines—including 33 units of the 18-MW class with rotor diameters of 292 meters—the project significantly lowers construction and seabed cabling costs through massive single-unit output. Generating more than 6.6 billion kWh of clean electricity annually, the offshore installation will displace roughly 1.92 million tons of standard coal and supply critical green power to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
