Data from the Shijiazhuang Customs Administration show that Hebei Province’s total foreign trade volume with “Belt and Road” countries reached 251.07 billion yuan between January and August 2025. This represents a 7% increase compared to the same period last year. Exports rose by 7% to 153.49 billion yuan, while imports increased by 6.9% to 97.58 billion yuan.

The diversity of export products continued to expand. In the first eight months, Hebei’s exports to “Belt and Road” countries covered 60 categories and 165 product types. Automobiles and auto parts were the main export items, with export values reaching 21.8 billion yuan and 5.03 billion yuan, respectively. Together, these two items accounted for more than one-fifth of total exports. High-tech product exports also gained strong momentum — exports of computer-aided manufacturing technologies and computer-communication technologies increased by 41.1% and 31%, respectively.

Imports of bulk commodities also grew significantly. From January to August, Hebei’s imports of bulk commodities from “Belt and Road” countries reached 71.85 billion yuan, up 26.5%, accounting for 73.6% of total imports. This surge contributed 16.5 percentage points to the province’s overall import growth from these countries. In particular, imports of crude oil and bauxite rose sharply — crude oil imports surged 494.1% to 22.15 billion yuan, while bauxite imports increased 54.9% to 7.57 billion yuan.
