Chinese President Xi Jinping called on the nation on Wednesday to forge ahead with resolute confidence and execute tangible measures to realize the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
Xi, who also serves as General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, delivered the address at a formal reception held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing marking the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China ahead of National Day on October 1.
The reception was presided over by Premier Li Qiang and attended by senior state leadership—including Zhao Leji, Wang Huning, Cai Qi, Ding Xuexiang, Li Xi, and Han Zheng—alongside approximately 800 domestic and international guests.
“The great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation is unstoppable,” Xi declared, noting that by sustaining confidence, remaining aligned with national objectives, and executing steady, measured progress, ultimate success will remain with the Party, the people, and the state. He reflected that across 77 years, the CPC guided the Chinese people in securing two historical benchmarks: sustained rapid economic growth and enduring social stability, reinforcing domestic confidence in Chinese modernization.
Xi stated that despite mounting headwinds since the beginning of the year, the national economy maintained forward momentum, generating innovation-led, high-quality development marked by systemic resilience. He emphasized the necessity of preserving this baseline, safeguarding and elevating citizen welfare, fulfilling annual socioeconomic mandates, and ensuring an effective operational start to the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).
On regional governance, Xi reaffirmed commitment to the “one country, two systems” framework, upholding high autonomy under Hong Kong people administering Hong Kong and Macao people administering Macao, while pledging continuous central support for their comprehensive integration into national development strategies. Regarding cross-Strait affairs, he called for deeper engagement and collaboration, firm opposition to separatist elements seeking “Taiwan independence,” rejection of foreign interference, and the peaceful cultivation of cross-Strait relations to advance national reunification. Internationally, Xi underlined China’s dedication to an independent foreign policy of peace, the execution of its four major global initiatives, and the development of a community with a shared future for humanity to provide global stability.
