During an official visit to Switzerland, Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China, emphasized the importance of enhancing the high-level development of the innovative strategic partnership between China and Switzerland. Highlighting the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties, Zhao noted that mutual respect, equality, innovation, and win-win cooperation have defined the bilateral relationship. He encouraged stronger collaboration in various sectors, including trade, finance, education, and local governance, while also calling for joint efforts in defending multilateralism and global economic order.
Zhao also underscored the need for increased parliamentary dialogue and legal cooperation between the two countries. Swiss leaders Maja Riniker and Andrea Caroni expressed a strong interest in upgrading the free trade agreement and fostering sustainable development. They reaffirmed Switzerland’s commitment to multilateral principles and emphasized the strategic value of deepening ties with China through open, respectful dialogue and cooperation.
