Chinese Premier Li Qiang, who arrived in Lusaka at the invitation of Zambia, emphasized the strengthening of the deep-rooted friendship between the two countries and stated that cooperation is based on “mutual respect and trust.”
Chinese Premier Li Qiang arrived at Lusaka International Airport yesterday by charter flight at the invitation of the Zambian government.
In a written statement at the airport, Li Qiang noted that Zambia was the first country in Southern Africa to establish diplomatic relations with China, emphasizing the deep and deep friendship between the two countries.
Li stated that China and Zambia have always pursued relations based on mutual respect, trust, and support, and that the spirit of the Tanzania-Zambia Railway, in particular, is a significant reflection of the China-Africa friendship and tradition of cooperation.
Li Qiang noted that in recent years, under the strategic leadership of Chinese President Xi Jinping and Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema, mutual trust between the two countries has further strengthened, and that rich and concrete results have been achieved in multifaceted cooperation. Li said, “Last September, on the sidelines of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Beijing Summit, the two leaders exchanged views on deepening the China-Zambia comprehensive strategic partnership.”
Li stated that China is ready to further advance its traditional friendship with Zambia, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, enhance understanding and closeness between the two peoples, and advance together on the path of modernization. He continued:
“In a world filled with change and uncertainty, China is willing to increase multilateral communication and coordination with Zambia, join forces with the broad ranks of countries in the Global South, safeguard international order and justice, and support the creation of a shared destiny for humanity.”
Premier Li Qiang traveled to Lusaka after attending the 24th meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Member States in Moscow, Russia.
