China’s electric vehicle production and sales increased significantly in the first 10 months of 2025 compared to the same period last year.
According to data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM), 13.02 million New Energy Vehicles (NEVs)—referred to as plug-in, battery-powered, hybrid, and fuel-cell electric vehicles—were produced and 12.94 million sold between January and October 2025.
Electric vehicle production increased by 33.1 percent and sales by 32.7 percent year-on-year, while the share of electric vehicles in total automobile sales rose to 46.7 percent.
During this period, electric vehicle exports increased by 90.4 percent to 2.01 million.
NEV sales reached 1.72 million in October, accounting for 51.6 percent of total new vehicle sales.
