The Chinese government has donated flood rescue equipment — including life jackets, rubber boats, life rafts, and water purification units — to the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) in an effort to strengthen the country’s preparedness and response capacity against floods and natural disasters.
Speaking at the handover ceremony in Dhaka, BDRCS Chairman Md Azizul Islam said that the modern equipment would enable volunteers to respond to disasters more quickly and effectively.
Faruk-E-Azam, Advisor to the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, noted that China’s support would accelerate the country’s rescue and relief operations, stressing that the donation reflects the long-standing friendship between the two nations.
Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen also affirmed that China remains committed to supporting Bangladesh in improving living conditions and enhancing its disaster response capacity.
