China is willing to work with Colombia to strengthen coordination on multilateral affairs, said Chinese Vice President Han Zheng in Beijing on Saturday. Han made the remarks when meeting with visiting Colombian Minister of Foreign Affairs Luis Gilberto Murillo. Since the two countries established diplomatic ties 44 years ago, the China-Colombia relations have maintained a sound momentum of development, said Han.
Han stated that in October last year, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Colombian President Gustavo Francisco Petro Urrego jointly announced the elevation of their bilateral relations to a strategic partnership, charting the course for the future development of their ties.
He urged the two sides to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, deepen political mutual trust, and firmly support each other. Colombia is welcomed to join the Belt and Road family to further tap the potential of cooperation, said Han. China is ready to work with Colombia to practice true multilateralism and build a community with a shared future for mankind, Han added. Murillo said the Colombia-China relations have been brought to a new level under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state.
