China’s Ambassador to Dominica, Xu Maoming, published an article in Chronicle, one of Dominica’s leading media outlets, titled “Building a Road to Shared Prosperity: The Vibrant Practice of China-Dominica Belt and Road Cooperation.” The article highlights the tangible results of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) cooperation between the two countries, emphasizing China’s contributions to Dominica in healthcare, infrastructure, and education. Ambassador Xu noted that the seventh Chinese medical aid team, shortly after arriving in Dominica, performed critical surgeries, providing high-quality healthcare services to the local population. He also stated that China’s 17-year support for Dominica in the medical field has strengthened local capacity and fostered a strong bond of friendship between the two nations.
The article underscores the acceleration of bilateral cooperation following the signing of the Belt and Road Memorandum of Understanding in 2018. During this period, projects such as the construction of an international airport, school renovation initiatives, agricultural technical assistance, and the establishment of a Confucius Classroom have been implemented. Ambassador Xu highlighted that during Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit’s official visit to China last year, both countries agreed to further deepen their Belt and Road cooperation. He expressed confidence that China-Dominica relations have a promising future with great potential for further collaboration.
