The first consultation meeting of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) was held on March 4 at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. The event attracted numerous domestic and international media representatives, with CPPCC members sharing their insights on current issues.
China’s Economy Stands on Strong Foundations
Ma Jiantang, a CPPCC member and former Party Secretary of the Development Research Center of the State Council, expressed confidence that China’s economy would continue to grow and strengthen following last year’s recovery. He attributed this progress to the strong leadership of the central government, effective macroeconomic policies, and comprehensive reform efforts. Ma emphasized that through innovation, openness, and dedicated efforts, China could achieve its economic and social development goals while contributing positive energy and stability to the global economy.
Technology and Innovation Drive New Productivity
Scientific and technological advancements are key factors supporting China’s sustainable growth. Yan Jianbing, a CPPCC member and President of China Agricultural University, highlighted the importance of agricultural innovation in ensuring food security. He stated that China is now among the world leaders in agricultural technology, with innovation contributing to over 63% of agricultural productivity.
Meanwhile, Qiao Hong, a CPPCC member and academician at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, noted China’s rapid progress in robotics. She revealed that in the past three years, China has accounted for more than half of global industrial robot deployments. Qiao emphasized that as the industry advances, greater attention must be given to the reliability, stability, and intelligence of robotic systems.
The Belt and Road Initiative Strengthens Global Connectivity
Today, the China-Europe freight train network connects 25 European countries and more than 220 cities, surpassing 100,000 total trips. Lin shared his observations on the initiative’s impact, underscoring how the BRI has become a widely welcomed global public good and a crucial platform for international cooperation.
