Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi stated that, as this year marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and the European Union (EU), China hopes Poland — which currently holds the rotating EU presidency — will play a constructive role in further advancing China-EU relations. Emphasizing that Poland is an important strategic partner of China in Europe, Wang noted that China is ready to increase high-level exchanges and expand cooperation in various fields. He also underlined that the return of Taiwan to China is part of the post-World War II international order, expressing hope that Poland will continue to uphold the one-China policy and oppose any form of “Taiwan independence” efforts.
Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski stated that Poland attaches great importance to its relations with China, adheres to the one-China policy, and is committed to strengthening exchanges and deepening cooperation in multiple areas. The two ministers also exchanged views on the Ukraine crisis. Wang reiterated that China is committed to promoting peace talks and highlighted the recent resumption of direct negotiations between Russia and Ukraine as a positive step toward peace. He expressed hope that all parties will show political will and work toward a fair and lasting peace agreement. Sikorski said he expects China to continue playing an active role in fostering lasting peace in Europe.
