On June 24, the “Jointly Building the Belt and Road” sub-forum was held in Tianjin, China, as part of the 2025 Summer Davos Forum, the 16th Annual Meeting of the New Champions of the World Economic Forum. Zhou Haibing, Vice Chairman of China’s National Development and Reform Commission, attended the event and exchanged views with Chinese and international guests on the theme “How Will the Belt and Road Initiative Develop?” Participants included Egypt’s Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation, Rania Al-Mashat; Professor Hong Yuanyuan from Johns Hopkins University, USA; and Qian Chaoyang, General Manager of China Southern Power Grid. Kyrgyz Prime Minister Adylbek Kasymaliev also attended the forum and delivered the closing speech. The session was moderated by Wang Guan, anchor of China Central Television.
Zhou Haibing emphasized that since 2013, the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) has evolved from a vision into concrete actions, achieving significant results, strengthening friendship between China and participating countries, and contributing meaningfully to their economic and social development. He highlighted that, in today’s world marked by the rise of the Global South, ongoing technological and industrial transformation, and the deepening concept of a shared future for mankind, the BRI holds great potential. He affirmed China’s readiness to uphold the spirit of cooperation, align strategies more closely, and produce sustainable projects in collaboration with all partners. The forum also featured examples of people-centered, small but impactful projects such as the “Light for All” program, the “Mushroom Grass Project,” and “Luban Workshops” to underscore grassroots development efforts.
