As the May Day holiday is approaching, more international trips are expected at the Beijing Capital International Airport, showcasing the continuous recovery of China’s international civil aviation market.
According to the airport, Beijing Capital International Airport is expected to see 918,300 passenger trips from Wednesday to Sunday, an average of 183,700 trips per day. The total number has increased by 21 percent compared with the same period of last year.
A total of 5,837 flights will be scheduled to depart and arrive at the airport during the period, up 10 percent from last year’s May Day holiday.
“During the holiday travel rush, popular destinations are mainly Chinese cities and neighboring Asian countries, such as Shanghai, Chengdu, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Seoul, and Osaka. Those are all very popular travel destinations,” said Shi Mengmeng from the airport’s civil aviation business department.
