A freight train bound for Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, departed from Beijing at around 10 a.m. on Wednesday, marking the official launch of the Beijing-Central Asia freight train route.
According to China Railway Beijing Group Co., Ltd., the train is carrying 90 standard containers loaded with auto parts, medicines, and other goods from the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. It will exit China through Horgos Port in Xinjiang and is expected to arrive in Tashkent in approximately 14 days.
Officials stated that this freight train service provides a new platform for Beijing to further integrate into the high-quality and coordinated development of the Belt and Road Initiative.
