Health cooperation under the “Belt and Road” initiative is steadily strengthening. On August 22, during the 2025 International Urology Minimally Invasive Forum and the Guangdong Medical Association Urology Academic Event, the Fifth Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University signed a “Memorandum of Friendly Cooperation” with the Kashi Regional First Hospital, the Astana Oncology Center in Kazakhstan, the Almaty Children’s Emergency Medical Center, and the Istiqlol Medical Center in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.
The agreement covers cooperation in areas such as international medical collaboration, remote diagnosis and treatment, infectious disease prevention, applications of artificial intelligence and big data, the construction of research platforms, the promotion of traditional Chinese medicine, medical personnel training, and hospital management. Officials emphasized that this step aims to raise regional healthcare standards and enhance the well-being of local populations.
