Palestinian and Chinese officials convened in the West Bank city of Ramallah to mark the completion of two China-funded infrastructure projects. The newly finished China-Palestine Friendship Square and the extension of Beijing Road were officially inaugurated.
RAMALLAH, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) — Palestinian and Chinese officials gathered on Wednesday in Ramallah, in the West Bank, to celebrate the completion of two infrastructure projects financed by China.
At the ceremony, Zeng Jixin, Head of the Office of China to Palestine, and Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa jointly inaugurated the newly completed China-Palestine Friendship Square and the Beijing Road extension project.
In his remarks, Zeng stated that the Friendship Square and Beijing Road represent a significant step in implementing the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries. He emphasized that the projects serve as a vivid example of how China’s modernization can support Palestine’s development.
According to Zeng, the 11-kilometer Beijing Road will serve as a convenient route for residents, a symbol of friendship that connects hearts, and a pathway to the future.
Prime Minister Mustafa highlighted the deep friendship between the two peoples and congratulated all parties on the successful completion and launch of the projects. He expressed his sincere gratitude for China’s assistance, which he said plays an important role in improving the well-being of the Palestinian people.
Following the ceremony, Mustafa told Xinhua that “China-Palestine relations date back decades. China has consistently supported the Palestinian people, their struggle for independence, and the development of infrastructure and other facilities across various sectors.”
The first section of Beijing Road opened to traffic in September 2020. The extension work began in September 2024, and the expanded route now connects a network of 14 roads, linking central Ramallah with the Jidwal area.
