The China-Laos Railway transported about 156,000 tons of cassava in the first four months of 2025, marking a 43% increase compared to the same period last year. This growth highlights the railway’s expanding role in facilitating Lao agricultural exports. According to a report released by Laos-China Railway Co., Ltd. on May 16, as of May 14, a total of 5,750 containers of cassava had been shipped to China.
The railway has made supporting Laos’ agricultural exports a top priority, providing full assistance to exporters regardless of shipment size. Additionally, it has improved logistics management, increased the number of dedicated train routes for agricultural products, and established an efficient coordination mechanism with border officials to streamline customs procedures. These efforts have helped Lao agricultural goods be exported more quickly and efficiently.
The report emphasizes that the China-Laos Railway, with its safety, low transportation costs, short delivery times, and overall convenience, has become a vital route for exporting agricultural products from Laos to China. It effectively meets the needs of exporters and contributes to the economic growth of Laos and the surrounding region.
