In Xinjiang, as part of efforts to establish an international aviation hub and integrate deeply into the Belt and Road Initiative, the China State Construction Xinjiang project for the China Southern Airlines Xinjiang Branch Operations Building and Shift Housing is advancing with high standards, marking a new era in regional infrastructure development. Covering over 30,000 square meters and valued at 1.73 billion yuan, it is the first key milestone within the 2.2 billion yuan Urumqi Airport base project.
The project uses an intelligent safety platform to create a full-chain protection network throughout the construction process. For high-risk crane operations, a “smart eye” system with high-definition cameras provides 360° monitoring, increasing safety by 60% and eliminating blind spots. In 2024, the platform conducted 106 safety inspections and recorded 563 hazards, establishing a “detect-correct-review” loop with a 48-hour rectification guarantee.
Innovative construction techniques are applied to improve quality. For façade waterproofing, a “Parapet Top Waterproof Structure” creates a multi-layered protective barrier. Additionally, 24 model samples and over 90 quality inspections standardize construction steps and ensure rapid resolution of issues.
The project is guided by strong party leadership to ensure high-quality construction. The team has won multiple awards and met safety and green building standards, setting an industry benchmark. This building is ready to upgrade Xinjiang’s aviation services and serves as a prominent “infrastructure landmark” in the Belt and Road aviation hub development.
