Amid efforts to enhance its infrastructure and bolster economic ties under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), China has announced ambitious plans to significantly expand its aviation network. Wang Yu, chairman and president of Spring Airlines and a member of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, has been a vocal advocate for the construction of additional airports, particularly in China’s central and western regions. These areas, pivotal to the BRI due to their proximity to pivotal economies in Central Asia, South Asia, and Southeast Asia, are set to witness the development of new airports and an increase in flight frequencies, aiming to promote high-quality development of China’s civil aviation industry.
