BEIJING, Dec. 27 (Xinhua) — With significant advances in industrial technological innovation throughout 2025, China’s core artificial intelligence sector scale exceeded 1 trillion yuan (approximately US$142 billion).

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology emphasized at the national industry and information technology conference held on Friday that, as part of the 2026 agenda, it will support and develop emerging and future-oriented industries, as well as promote research and development in artificial intelligence.

The ministry stated that efforts will be made to develop new key sectors such as integrated circuits, new display technologies, new materials, aerospace, low-altitude economy, and biomedicine.

The ministry expects the total added value of large industrial enterprises to increase by 5.9 percent in 2025 compared to last year.

According to official data, the added value of large high-tech manufacturing enterprises increased by 9.2 percent in the January-November period compared to the same period last year, while the added value of equipment manufacturing enterprises increased by 9.3 percent.

More than 600,000 technology and innovation-focused small and medium-sized enterprises operate in the country, while the number of high-tech enterprises has reached 504,000.

Minister of Industry and Information Technology Li Lecheng stated that efforts should be made to consolidate the stable and positive momentum of the industrial economy and strengthen the independent and controllable development of industrial chains.
