According to reports from China Railway Hohhot Group, since the first China-Europe Railway Express train was transported in 2013, as of February 14, 2025, the total number of trains passing through the Erlian railway port in Inner Mongolia has exceeded 18,124.
Erlian railway port plays a significant role as a key entry and exit point for the China-Europe Railway Express. Trains departing from this port reach over 60 regions in more than 10 countries. The route now serves cargo from over 10 provinces. The number of routes has grown from 2 to 71, and the types of goods transported have evolved. Initially dominated by metals, chemicals, and clothing, the goods transported today are increasingly focused on high-value, high-tech products such as domestically produced cars and home appliances.
These developments demonstrate the growing impact of the China-Europe Railway Express on global trade and its role in strengthening economic ties in the region.
