The first session of China’s Agricultural Technical Cooperation Training Program in Congo officially began on December 19th with a ceremony held in the country’s capital, Kinshasa. The ceremony took place at the Kongo (Kinshasa) Dry Crop and Agricultural Technology Demonstration Center located in the suburbs of Kinshasa. The event was attended by Yves Mutombo, the Minister of State and Minister of Agriculture and Food Security of Congo, Zhao Bin, the Chinese Ambassador to Congo, and other officials.
In his speech, Mutombo stated that this training program would help Congo fully utilize its unique agricultural resources and unleash its agricultural potential. As a result, it will help fill the “vegetable baskets” of the Congolese people and further the country’s economic development and poverty reduction efforts.
Zhao Bin emphasized Congo’s great potential for agricultural development. He mentioned that during the China-Africa Cooperation Forum Beijing Summit this year, the leaders of both countries identified agricultural cooperation as one of the priority areas. Zhao expressed confidence that the successful outcomes of the existing cooperation between China and Congo would be expanded across the country and that both countries would work together to take concrete steps to strengthen Congo’s food security.
The training program, which is jointly organized by China and Congo, is scheduled to last for one month. The program will provide more than 40 local participants with both theoretical and practical training on crop cultivation techniques.
