Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who also serves as a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, met with Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili in Beijing.
During the meeting on Friday, Wang emphasized that China has always approached its relations with Georgia from a strategic perspective and long-term vision. He stated that China is ready to strengthen strategic mutual trust, maintain deep-rooted friendly relations, and elevate bilateral cooperation to a higher level through mutually beneficial collaboration.
Wang highlighted China’s commitment to expanding in-depth engagement across multiple sectors, enhancing strategic alignment with Georgia, and unlocking cooperation potential. He also underscored plans to broaden collaboration in economy, trade, connectivity, and people-to-people and cultural exchanges, as well as to promote high-quality cooperation in the Belt and Road Initiative, thereby bringing bilateral relations to a deeper and more tangible level.
Furthermore, Wang expressed China’s readiness to implement the Global Governance Initiative together with Georgia and to better safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of the Global South while promoting the shared interests of the international community. He also welcomed Georgia’s participation in the International Mediation Organization.
In response, Minister Botchorishvili affirmed Georgia’s strong commitment to its relations with China and expressed eagerness to further develop bilateral ties. She noted that Georgia will continue to actively participate in the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative, deepen practical cooperation with China, expedite the implementation of the updated bilateral free trade agreement, and increase the access of Georgian products to the Chinese market.
Botchorishvili also reaffirmed Georgia’s firm adherence to the One-China Policy and expressed readiness to strengthen cooperation with China on international and regional issues to contribute to global peace and stability.
