Under the guidance of China’s Ministry of Ecology and Environment, together with various domestic and international institutions, the “Belt and Road” Low Carbon Service Partnership was launched in Guangzhou Nansha. The partnership aims to promote green and low-carbon development in countries along the Belt and Road route and contribute to global climate governance.

On the same day, the 2024 Mingzhu Bay International Climate Investment and Financing Conference opened in Guangzhou Nansha under the theme of “Global Cooperation, Green Future.” Government officials, financial institution representatives, major companies, and experts were invited to attend the conference. During the event, international cooperation pathways for green development were discussed.

At the conference, multiple domestic and international organizations jointly launched the partnership, aiming to serve green development along the Belt and Road route. The “Belt and Road” Low Carbon Service Partnership will provide comprehensive services in areas such as low-carbon technologies, green investment, and financing to government departments and business partners in the countries along the Belt and Road route through policy dialogues, technical cooperation, demonstration projects, and capacity building. It will also contribute to the promotion and application of green, low-carbon industries and technologies in these countries, supporting the construction of a clean and beautiful world. The first 23 domestic and foreign cooperation institutions joining the partnership were announced during the conference. These institutions include government agencies, research institutes, industry organizations, and companies.

In addition, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Climate Change Standards Alliance was established during the conference. This alliance will strengthen cooperation in the climate investment and financing ecosystem and advance climate investment and financing efforts in the Greater Bay Area. It will also support the creation of a standard system for climate investment and financing, contributing to Guangzhou’s enhanced efforts to combat climate change in collaboration with Hong Kong and Macao.

The conference included one main session and three overseas sub-sessions in Thailand, Saudi Arabia, and Mexico. Furthermore, in addition to the main forum, five thematic forums were organized, including “Green Silk Road and International Cooperation” and “High-Quality Development of Green Energy and Certificates in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.” A climate-friendly enterprise and technology expo was also held during the event.
