On December 30, 2024, the General Research Institute in Shenzhen, China, established the “Belt and Road” Research Center and held a seminar titled “The Next Ten Years of the Belt and Road: Opportunities and Reflections.” Since its initiation ten years ago, the “Belt and Road” Initiative has become an important international public product and a platform for international cooperation. In November 2023, the Chinese government published the “Development Perspective for the Next Ten Years of the Belt and Road.” The newly established research center aims to contribute to the development of high-quality research in this field.
Following the establishment of the center, Fan Gang, President of the Institute, delivered a speech as the head of the research center. He emphasized that the center aims to conduct more systematic and strategic studies in the future, in addition to the nearly 30 policy recommendations adopted at the national level. In his speech, he stated that the research center would develop in-depth strategies for the “Belt and Road” project, reinforcing China’s determination towards global development. He also highlighted the need for further research to address past challenges and contribute to both China’s internal and external development needs through the project.
