The 2025 Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) Bangladesh Exhibition was held in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, from September 12 to 13.
During the event, government officials, experts, scholars, and business representatives from China and Bangladesh praised the achievements of the BRI in Bangladesh, highlighting its sustained momentum and resilience, as well as the vast potential for bilateral cooperation.
This year’s exhibition featured 43 companies from China, Bangladesh, the UK, and other countries, with 76 booths set up. Participating enterprises represented sectors including infrastructure, energy, finance, and technology. Through thematic forums, model displays, photos, and videos, the exhibition showcased the concrete outcomes of BRI projects in Bangladesh.
Majedul Haque Patwary, Vice President of Midland Bank, one of the exhibitors, stated that the bank plays an active role in the BRI: “Our bank serves as the financial engine of this initiative, connecting Chinese businesses with Bangladeshi enterprises. Our services and technology will strengthen cooperation between companies in both countries.”
Mirana Mahrukh, Additional Secretary of the Economic Relations Division under the Ministry of Finance, said that bilateral relations have reached a new height and that Bangladesh’s development goals have been greatly supported through the BRI. She added that cooperation in energy, transportation, connectivity, water management, urban infrastructure, regional cooperation, as well as in education, health, cultural exchanges, and joint ventures, strengthens both infrastructure and mutual understanding.
Bangladesh’s Commerce Adviser Bashir Uddin noted the broad potential for cooperation in areas such as manufacturing and export diversification.
Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen stated that China is willing to continue working with Bangladesh to advance the high-quality development of the BRI, promote continuous new achievements in bilateral cooperation, and benefit the people of both countries.
