On June 11, Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory letter to the Ministerial Meeting of Coordinators on the Implementation of the Follow-up Actions of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), announcing a series of important new steps to deepen China’s cooperation with Africa. Xi’s remarks provided fresh momentum for joint modernization efforts and strengthened solidarity across the Global South, contributing to the vision of a community with a shared future for mankind.
China is determined to diversify its economic cooperation with Africa beyond resource-based sectors, expanding into industry, agriculture, technology, and infrastructure. The country is preparing to implement zero-tariff treatment across all tariff lines for 53 African countries with diplomatic ties to China, and is working to make exports from Africa’s least developed countries more accessible to the Chinese market. In the first five months of 2025, China-Africa trade reached 963 billion yuan, up 12.4% year-on-year — a record high for the period. Building on the goals outlined at the FOCAC Beijing Summit, both sides are advancing high-quality cooperation through concrete actions.
