On June 27, 2025, under the witness of the Presidents of both countries, China and Ecuador signed the “Cooperation Plan between the Government of the People’s Republic of China and the Government of the Republic of Ecuador on Jointly Advancing the Belt and Road Initiative.”
The plan adheres to the principles of extensive consultation, joint contribution, and shared benefits, aiming for high standards, improved livelihoods, and sustainable development. It focuses on promoting policy coordination, infrastructure connectivity, unimpeded trade, financial integration, and people-to-people ties. Key areas of cooperation include policy exchanges, connectivity, trade and investment, technological innovation, clean energy, financial integration, and cultural exchange.
The signing of this cooperation plan marks a significant step in deepening political mutual trust, aligning development strategies, and enhancing practical cooperation across various sectors. It is expected to give a strong boost to Belt and Road cooperation between China and Ecuador and deliver greater benefits to the peoples of both nations.
