During his visit to the Republic of Congo, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with his counterpart, Jean-Claude Gakosso, emphasizing their commitment to implementing the outcomes of the 2024 Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC). Wang highlighted that solidarity and cooperation with Africa are cornerstones of China’s foreign policy, reaffirming their determination to deepen these ties despite changing international conditions.
Describing the Republic of Congo as China’s “steadfast friend,” Wang noted that the more than 60-year-long diplomatic relationship between the two nations is built on mutual understanding and support. Gakosso, in turn, stated that the relationship between China and Congo serves as a model for global peace, justice, and shared development. He also pledged that the Republic of Congo, as a FOCAC co-chair, will continue to work closely with China to implement summit outcomes and advance China-Africa cooperation.
