The Chaktomuk Theatre in Phnom Penh, Cambodia’s capital, hosted the “Golden Words 2024” performance, aimed at strengthening cultural ties between China and Cambodia. Held as part of the Year of People-to-People Exchange, the event featured performances by artists from both countries, who captivated the audience with traditional acts, creating an unforgettable night.
Artists from Wuxi City in Jiangsu Province, China, and a team from Cambodia’s Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts showcased traditional dances and music on stage. Chinese performers enchanted the audience with their traditional songs and dances, while Cambodian artists presented the Royal Ballet, listed on UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage list. China’s Ambassador to Cambodia, Wang Wenbin, stated that the event further deepened the friendship and cultural exchange between the two countries.
Among the audience were Cambodian officials and students, who expressed that the performances reflected the richness of both cultures. Keo Sreylin, from the Ministry of Tourism, mentioned, “These events are a great opportunity to learn more about China’s traditions and culture.” University student Sokun Povneath described the event as “a program that dazzled with its diversity and the professionalism of the artists.”
The event was part of the Year of People-to-People Exchange, aimed at strengthening cultural ties between China and Cambodia. It highlighted the cultural aspect of the Belt and Road Initiative and further solidified the friendship between the two countries. Officials emphasized that such programs are an important step in promoting peace and mutual understanding between nations.
