China has donated 1,000 bicycles to students from nine community schools in Nepal’s Madhesh Province. The donation benefits 504 students from five schools in Bara district and 496 students from four schools in Parsa district. This initiative is part of an international bicycle project launched in 2021 by the China Foundation for Rural Development in collaboration with Hello Inc., which has previously provided a total of 6,024 bicycles to Cambodia and Laos.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony in Birgunj, Zou Zhiqiang, director of the foundation’s Nepal Office, highlighted that the donation aims to address the transportation challenges faced by students in remote areas. Wang Xin, a counselor at the Chinese Embassy in Nepal, emphasized China’s commitment to poverty-reduction projects in Nepal, such as “Vibrant Village,” “Happy Community,” and “Lighting the Future,” and promised further support to benefit the Nepali people.
