The 100,000th China-Europe freight train departed from southwest China on Friday morning, marking a significant milestone in developing services that facilitate economic and trade exchanges between China and Europe. Loaded with various goods, including electronics, automotive parts, mechanical components, and household appliances, the train is expected to arrive in Duisburg, Germany, in just over 10 days.
Zhang Xiaolong from Yuxinou (Chongqing) Logistics Co. highlighted, “The China-Europe freight train service enables higher-quality Chinese products to reach overseas markets faster and at lower shipping costs, while also providing a new gateway for foreign companies to enter the Chinese market.” The service between Chongqing and Duisburg, known as the Yuxinou route, was first launched in March 2011, creating a direct overland trade corridor between China and Europe.
According to China State Railway Group Co., Ltd., operational efficiency has significantly improved, reducing the time required to complete 10,000 trips from seven and a half years to just six months. Currently, the China-Europe freight train network extends to 227 cities in 25 European countries and over 100 cities in 11 Asian countries.
The variety of goods transported has also greatly expanded, growing from a few categories like electronics to more than 53 categories and over 50,000 types of products. High-tech and high-value goods, including new energy vehicles, lithium batteries, and photovoltaic products, are increasingly becoming part of the cargo, reaching global markets through this service. Seen as a stabilizing factor for trade and economic ties between Asia and Europe, this service continues to enhance connectivity across regions.
