According to a report by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, based on data from the General Administration of Customs, China’s automobile exports to Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) countries reached $136.02 billion in 2024. This figure represents a 16.2% increase compared to the previous year, accounting for 58.2% of total automobile exports.
Among these exports, the total sales of passenger and commercial vehicles amounted to 4.427 million units, marking a 29.1% year-on-year increase and comprising 69.1% of China’s total vehicle exports. Meanwhile, exports of new energy vehicles (NEVs), including electric and hybrid models, to BRI countries also experienced remarkable growth. In 2024, China exported 978,000 NEVs, reflecting a 25% increase from the previous year.
These figures highlight China’s expanding influence in the global automotive sector and its deepening trade relations with Belt and Road countries. The growing demand for new energy vehicles, in particular, underscores China’s leading position in green technology and sustainable transportation.
