China’s second domestically produced large cruise ship, currently under construction, is anticipated to be completed and delivered by the end of 2026. According to the schedule released by the Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Company, a subsidiary of the China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), the cruise ship is set to depart the dock by the end of March 2026 and commence trial voyages in June 2026. The formal naming and delivery ceremony of the cruise ship are scheduled to occur before the end of 2026.
The new ship boasts a total tonnage of approximately 142,000 tonnes, with an overall length of 341 meters and a width of 37.2 meters. It will accommodate 2,144 cabins. Compared to China’s first domestically produced large cruise ship, the Adora Magic City, the new vessel demonstrates an increase in tonnage by 0.67 million tonnes, a length extension of 17.4 meters, and an addition of 19 cabins.
The company’s statement highlights that despite the higher construction volume compared to the Magic City, the total construction time of the new ship is expected to be shortened by 20 percent. Meanwhile, equipment installation work on the ship commenced on Monday. The company emphasized the significance of the smooth progress of this critical phase for the overall construction and delivery schedule of the ship.
Earlier this year, the Adora Magic City completed its maiden commercial voyage, covering 1,119 nautical miles over a 7-day, 6-night journey, attracting significant attention from tourists.
