On April 18, 2025, the BRI International Green Development Coalition (BRIGC) held an exchange event in Beijing with the delegation from the Seminar on the Design of Waste Recycling Schemes for Developing Countries. The meeting brought together experts from BRIGC member organizations including the Foreign Environmental Cooperation Center (FECO) of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment and the Environmental Defense Fund (EDF). A total of 29 government and technical officials from nine developing countries, including Egypt, Tanzania, Armenia, Laos, and the Solomon Islands, participated in the event.
During the keynote speech, the BRIGC representative highlighted the progress made in building a green Silk Road through cooperation between China and its Belt and Road partners. They introduced initiatives such as the Green Investment and Finance Partnership (GIFP), the BRI Green and Low-Carbon Expert Network (GLEN), and the Green Silk Road Envoys Program, which support developing countries in transitioning to green and low-carbon development. Delegates from countries like Armenia and the Solomon Islands praised China’s achievements and emphasized the value of such exchanges in building cooperation and enhancing technical capacity in environmental governance and climate action.
In the afternoon, supported by BRIGC’s partner, the Beijing Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Center, the delegation visited the Beijing Anding Circular Economy Park. There, they observed firsthand China’s practices and experiences in constructing and operating an industrial chain for solid waste treatment and recycling. This activity is part of the BRI Green Talent Program and represents BRIGC’s second exchange event in 2025 in response to invitations from the seminar’s organizers, the Academy for International Business Officials (AIBO) of the Ministry of Commerce and the supporting China-Africa Business Council.
