On March 1, a shipment of 146 engineering vehicles and equipment from major Chinese automotive companies such as FAW and Sinotruk departed from Zhangjiagang Port under the supervision of the Zhangjiagang Maritime Administration. This shipment marks the official launch of a new China-Africa “Belt and Road” trade route, connecting China with the ports of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania and Mombasa in Kenya.
As economic and trade cooperation between China and Africa continues to strengthen under the “Belt and Road” initiative, this new route is expected to significantly reduce logistics costs, allowing Chinese companies to provide more efficient support for infrastructure projects in Africa. The Zhangjiagang Maritime Administration guided port and shipping companies to ensure the safe loading and transportation process, tightened ship inspection procedures, and monitored cargo securing standards. Additionally, smart maritime systems and unmanned aerial vehicles were utilized for dynamic supervision, ensuring a smooth and secure shipment.
Moving forward, the Zhangjiagang Maritime Administration will continue to enhance its innovative regulatory mechanisms and high-quality service approach, contributing to the growth of the regional port and maritime transport economy.
