On January 18, freight train X8120, loaded with home appliances, LED lights, textiles, furniture, and daily necessities produced in the Greater Bay Area, departed from Guangtie Group’s Guangzhou International Port for Europe. With this trip, the total number of China-Europe freight trains departing from the Greater Bay Area exceeded 4,000. This milestone highlights the robust growth of the region’s foreign trade economy. In 2024, Guangdong Province’s foreign trade volume surpassed 9 trillion yuan, marking a remarkable increase.
The China-Europe freight train network in the region is expanding through customized services, leveraging the manufacturing strengths of the Greater Bay Area. It now includes routes for cross-border e-commerce, international postal services, cold-chain products, and new energy vehicles. The network connects over 50 Belt and Road Initiative countries, establishing a comprehensive logistics system across the Eurasian continent. As the Spring Festival holiday approaches, freight train operations are expected to peak.
Guangtie Group is ensuring swift and efficient transit by establishing dedicated 24-hour logistics corridors. The company also plans to increase train frequency, introduce new return routes, and offer tailored logistics solutions to meet the needs of foreign trade enterprises in the region. These measures aim to strengthen rail logistics and support the Greater Bay Area’s high-quality integration into the Belt and Road Initiative and the “dual circulation” development model.
