Leading universities in China and Nigeria have called for deeper understanding and cooperation among countries in the Global South, emphasizing the importance of cultural diversity in building a shared future for humanity. During the forum titled “Civilizational Exchange and Mutual Learning Between China and Nigeria,” held on Friday, participants highlighted the need to strengthen dialogue and collaboration between the two nations. Sheriff Ghali Ibrahim, head of the Department of Political Science and International Relations at the University of Abuja, stated that mutual learning between civilizations can transform perceptions and foster cooperation.
The forum was jointly organized by the School of Journalism and Communication at China’s Tsinghua University and the Department of Political Science and International Relations at the University of Abuja. Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria Yu Dunhai emphasized the forum’s key role in promoting cultural exchanges and mutual learning, reaffirming China’s commitment to advancing the Global Civilization Initiative in collaboration with Nigeria. Zhou Qing’an, dean of the School of Journalism and Communication at Tsinghua University, highlighted that China-Africa cultural collaboration could support the creation of a shared future for humanity and contribute to a balanced global order.
