BEIJING, Nov. 25 (Xinhua) — China’s civil aviation sector recorded year-on-year growth exceeding 20% in both international passenger and cargo traffic in October.
Data released on Tuesday by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) show that the country’s monthly air cargo and mail throughput surpassed 900,000 tonnes for the first time in history.
The sector’s total transport turnover reached 14.6 billion tonne-kilometers in October, marking a 10.8% year-on-yearincrease.
Passenger traffic climbed 5.8% year-on-year to 67.84 million, while cargo and mail volumes rose 13.4% to approximately 917,000 tonnes.
During the first ten months of the year, the sector’s total transport turnover grew 10.3% from the previous year, reaching 136.63 billion tonne-kilometers. Over the same period, China recorded around 650 million passenger trips, up 5.3%, and 8.31 million tonnes of cargo and mail, reflecting 13.9% growth year-on-year.
