Mohammed Ahmed Al-Yamahi, Speaker of the Arab Parliament, praised the significant progress in China-Arab relations and called for the establishment of a fairer and more inclusive global economic governance system. In an interview with Xinhua, Al-Yamahi emphasized that Arab countries and China have always supported one another and share common positions on global issues, such as a commitment to international law, support for multilateralism, and opposition to hegemony and “double standards.”
Al-Yamahi noted that the two sides work closely to safeguard the interests of developing countries and uphold the global trade system, contributing to the formation of a more just and inclusive global economic framework. He stressed that China firmly supports the just causes of Arab countries, especially the Palestinian people’s efforts to restore their legitimate national rights. Meanwhile, Arab countries strongly adhere to the One-China principle, resolutely oppose any form of “Taiwan independence,” and fully support China’s efforts for national reunification.
The Speaker also praised the exchange mechanism between the Arab Parliament and China’s National People’s Congress (NPC), stating that it deepens cooperation in political, economic, and cultural fields, encourages mutual learning in legislative supervision, and enhances coordination both bilaterally and multilaterally. Al-Yamahi criticized the protectionist policies of the United States, saying they undermine the multilateral trade system, disrupt global supply chains, and harm inclusive economic growth. He called on all countries to strengthen international cooperation and work toward building a more just and inclusive global governance system to better safeguard the economic and developmental interests of developing nations.
