Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian stated on November 21 that China is ready to work with Brazil to continuously enrich the content of their bilateral relations and deliver a new-era message: “We want development, not poverty; cooperation, not conflict; justice, not hegemony.”
At a regular press briefing, Lin Jian responded to a question about the details of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to Brazil, explaining that during the visit, the leaders of the two countries announced progress in their bilateral ties aimed at building a more just world and a more sustainable planet. Additionally, the Belt and Road Initiative was aligned with Brazil’s development strategies. President Xi and Brazilian President Lula reviewed the 50-year history of China-Brazil relations, emphasizing that these ties are at their strongest point in history, with increasing global, strategic, and long-term significance.
“The elevation of bilateral relations and the alignment of development strategies will carry China-Brazil relations into the next ‘Golden 50 Years,’ set an example of unity and cooperation for Global South countries, and contribute to strengthening the representation and voice of developing nations in global governance,” Lin Jian highlighted. He also noted that next year marks the 10th anniversary of the formal operation of the China-CELAC Forum and expressed China’s willingness to elevate cooperation with Brazil and other Latin American countries to a new level.
Lin Jian shared that during the visit, the two leaders witnessed the signing of a cooperation agreement that integrates the Belt and Road Initiative with Brazil’s “Accelerated Growth Plan,” “New Industrial Plan,” “Ecological Transition Plan,” and “South American Integration Route Plan.” He also stated that multiple bilateral cooperation documents were signed during the visit.
Referring to the legendary footballer Pelé’s famous saying, “The most beautiful goal is the next one,” Lin Jian remarked that “the most beautiful chapter of China-Brazil relations also lies ahead.” He expressed China’s readiness to continuously enrich its relations with Brazil and work together to build a better world.
