Nepal attaches great importance to its time-tested friendship with China and aims to further strengthen bilateral relations, said Nepali Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Friday.
Speaking at a reception held in Kathmandu to mark the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Nepal and China, Oli noted that the bilateral ties have deepened over the past seven decades, built on mutual trust and shared values.
He reiterated Nepal’s firm commitment to the one-China principle and highlighted China’s consistent respect for Nepal’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and political independence.
Describing China as both a close neighbor and a reliable development partner, Oli emphasized Nepal’s desire to expand cooperation, deepen connectivity, and open new avenues for mutual benefit in the future.
He also praised China’s national rejuvenation efforts, stating that these achievements not only benefit China but also contribute to regional stability and global development.
During the same event, Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Chen Song highlighted the strong mutual trust developed between the two countries over the past 70 years. “In a world filled with change and challenges, China is ready to strengthen high-level exchanges with Nepal, deepen political trust, and firmly support each other’s core interests on the international stage,” he said.
Chen also expressed China’s readiness to support Nepal in overcoming its development challenges by offering Chinese solutions.
A cultural performance was held as part of the celebrations, underscoring the warm relations between the two nations.
