The Chengdu-Chongqing region has achieved a significant milestone with the approval of the Belt and Road International Technology Transfer Center by the Ministry of Science and Technology. Additionally, the construction of the China-Cuba Joint Laboratory for Neural Technology and Brain-Machine Interaction has also been approved. These developments mark major steps toward enhancing international scientific collaboration and advancing the Chengdu-Chongqing twin-city economic zone.
The region continues to expand global partnerships by establishing scientific innovation platforms. Projects such as the “China Circulator III” have garnered significant attention from the international scientific community and led to groundbreaking discoveries. Currently, the Chengdu-Chongqing region hosts 11 national scientific instruments, innovative partnerships, and laboratories. Furthermore, the translation of technological achievements into practical applications has accelerated; for example, patent transfers in the biomedical field have yielded both economic benefits and new opportunities in treatment development.
To attract and develop international talent, the region has launched various programs. Priorities include establishing a collaborative mechanism, supporting international technology transfer, and expanding the pool of innovative human resources. The Chengdu-Chongqing region is rapidly progressing toward becoming a significant hub for science and technology innovation in western China, while deepening cooperation with Belt and Road Initiative countries.
