    One year of Jakarta-Bandung high-speed rail: a new era in travel

    The Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Rail (HSR) line’s first anniversary was celebrated on October 2, 2024. One year on, the line connecting Indonesia’s capital, Jakarta, to its fourth-largest city, Bandung, is now a crucial link in the country’s transport network.

    According to China Railway International Group, the number of train services has increased from 14 to a peak of 52 per day, with nearly 5 million passengers transported over the past year.

    The construction and operation of the Jakarta-Bandung HSR relied heavily on close cooperation between China and Indonesia. The two countries worked together closely in technology transfer, operational management, and talent training. Currently, the Chinese team has completed qualification training for more than 160 Indonesian trainees, including a first batch of high-speed train drivers and related positions.
